Justice for the Community: Woman Under Investigation for Corruption

A woman faces up to six years in prison for abusing her official position.
Investigators from police station No. 3 of the Odessa district police department No. 2 found that while serving as the head of one of the departments of the Dobroslav village council, the woman made an oral agreement with a private contractor to create project documentation for the capital repair of a kindergarten roof at inflated prices for materials and labor.
Although there were no funds allocated in the community budget for repairs, the accused managed to secure funding from the reserve fund, citing the effects of bad weather. The procurement of services was conducted without proper contracts, tenders, or an electronic system.
As a result of the agreement with the private firm and the execution of works at inflated prices, the budget of the Dobroslav village council suffered losses amounting to 957,632.16 hryvnias, confirmed by the conclusion of a judicial economic examination.
During the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure for the woman in the form of house arrest. She has been dismissed from her position.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators charged the former official under part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for abusing her official position that resulted in severe consequences.
The indictment has been sent to court. The Dobroslav District Prosecutor's Office will support the prosecution in court, under whose procedural guidance the investigation was conducted.
The offender faces up to six years in prison with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years, and a fine ranging from 8,500 to 17,000 hryvnias.
