In Odesa, a military officer was arrested by police and SBU for trying to solicit $4000 in exchange for assistance in joining a local volunteer formation. The suspect promised to use his influence to facilitate the formal enlistment of an individual, allowing them to avoid actual military conscription.
The demand for a bribe of four thousand dollars led to the officer's arrest. After the money was handed over, law enforcement detained the suspect and seized the funds.
An investigation is underway regarding the unlawful benefit obtained for influencing a state official's decision, which could result in a penalty of up to eight years in prison and confiscation of property.
The court has ordered the suspect to be held in custody with the option of bail set at 605,600 hryvnias.
Investigators are working to identify all individuals involved in this crime.
