New Social Bus Route Launched in Odesa
A new social bus route has been introduced in Odesa, connecting Inglezi Street and the railway station.
A court case has been initiated against an official from one of the city councils in the Odesa district for bribery. The accused received 10,000 hryvnias from the head of a homeowners' association for facilitating community improvement services. The investigation has concluded, and the case has been forwarded to court.
Law enforcement established that a leader from the homeowners' association contacted the acting deputy head of the city council responsible for public utilities, requesting assistance with community improvement. In return, the official suggested resolving the issue through his municipal enterprise for a monetary reward.
To expedite the work, including bush trimming and trash removal, the official demanded a 'thank you' of 10,000 hryvnias.
Law enforcement documented the illegal actions and arrested him immediately after he received the bribe. The money was seized and included as evidence in the case. The court has imposed a seizure on it.
The official was suspended from his position, and the court ordered him to be held in custody with a possibility of bail set at 242,240 hryvnias, which he has since utilized.
According to senior investigator Yulia Bondarenko, sufficient evidence has been gathered to charge the individual with receiving illicit benefits, punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The case will be prosecuted by the Khadzhybeisk District Prosecutor's Office.
