In the Odesa region, law enforcement authorities have arrested the head of a local TCC and SP department on bribery charges. He faces up to ten years in prison with property confiscation.
According to the investigation, the department head demanded two thousand dollars from a citizen for assistance in obtaining a new military registration document, removal from the electronic system, and a deferment from conscription. He stated that the resolution of the issue would be impossible without the money.
Investigators from the Odesa region's police department, with the operational support of the SBU, documented the crime and arrested the official in downtown Odesa after he received the full amount. Police seized money, documentation, and other items as evidence.
The official has been notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving unlawful benefits in his official capacity and demanding such benefits for actions in favor of the person providing the bribe.
The punishment for this crime includes imprisonment for up to ten years with property confiscation and a ban on holding certain positions.
The court has selected a preventive measure of detention for the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, supervised by the Odesa specialized prosecutor's office.
