New Opportunities for Student Nutrition in Ukraine

On October 4, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution to allocate subsidies from the state budget to support the nutrition of primary school students in general secondary education institutions.

According to the new resolution, the subsidy covers 70% of the costs for feeding students in grades 1-4, while 30% must be provided from the local budget.

Olena Buinevych, Director of the Department of Education and Science, reported that a draft decision for the Odesa City Council will be prepared shortly.

It is planned to provide free meals for approximately 20,000 primary school students in educational institutions in Odesa.

«After discussions among the deputies and allocation of funds from the city budget, the next step will be to conduct a tender. Currently, only students in grades 1-4 from low-income categories are provided meals through the city budget in Odesa», - noted the head of the city Department of Education and Science.
