Advanced Surgical Techniques: A New Era of Healing

Clinical Hospital No.1 (Jewish Hospital) has launched a new department specializing in minimally invasive and high-tech surgery. This unit is located in the renovated main building funded by the Odessa city budget. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and experienced surgeons adhere to modern European protocols.

Each week, the department performs over 40 surgeries, with 80% being minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and thoracoscopy. The surgeries cover a wide range of organs, including the liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid gland, bladder, lungs, esophagus, uterus, and ovaries. Minor surgical interventions are also conducted using ultrasound navigation.

Last year, more than 5400 surgeries were performed, including 873 trauma operations, 847 gynecological surgeries, 441 urological procedures, 511 ENT surgeries, 311 thoracic surgeries, and 126 vascular operations.

Advantages of minimally invasive surgery:
- reduced trauma: smaller incisions lead to less bleeding and pain post-operation;
- faster recovery: patients generally return to their normal lives much quicker than after traditional surgery;
- improved cosmetic results: smaller scars and lower risk of complications.
