Uzhhorod Hosts National Sambo Championship
The National Sambo Championship took place in Uzhhorod, featuring junior and cadet competitors.
On April 24, 2025, the Southern Hub of the UN OCHA held a significant coordination meeting that brought together representatives from local authorities and NGOs.
The primary goal of the event was to enhance collaboration in the context of reduced international humanitarian assistance.
Particular emphasis was placed on the financial challenges arising from the withdrawal of funding for several projects by the U.S. government, which posed serious challenges for the humanitarian sector in the region.
Attending the meeting were Odesa City Mayor's advisor on humanitarian issues Veronika Etnarovich and deputy director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy Tetiana Vikovan.
Veronika Etnarovich highlighted the importance of unwavering support from international and local partners, expressing her heartfelt gratitude.
The discussion covered active city social programs and the humanitarian challenges faced by both local residents and internally displaced persons. Key issues included the necessity of continued assistance to the most vulnerable populations and coordination of efforts in the new realities.
The event underscored the need for ongoing dialogue between authorities, humanitarian organizations, and the public sector. In times of decreased donor funding, close cooperation may be the key to effectively addressing community needs.
