Competition for Lesya Ukrainka Monument in Odesa
The results of the competition for the best project proposal for the Lesya Ukrainka monument in Odesa have been announced.
Odesa once again demonstrated its achievements at the national conference on the “Barrier-Free Movement” project.
On June 18, 2025, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine held the second national conference dedicated to the implementation of the “Barrier-Free Movement” project.
The event was led by Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery Oleksii Kuleba, with the participation of Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska.
Oleksandr Zhiltsov, Secretary of the Barrier-Free Council, presented the results of implementing the city’s barrier-free plan and new projects being carried out in Odesa. Special attention was given to work at key facilities — hospitals, transport hubs, and social services where ensuring a barrier-free environment is important.
Odesa is actively implementing inclusive stops, operating a social taxi service, adapting medical institutions, and implementing solutions to support veterans and people with disabilities.
All projects related to barrier-free solutions in Odesa are initiated by Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and coordinated by the Barrier-Free Council at the Odesa City Council.
As a reminder, Odesa is a pilot community in the “Barrier-Free Movement” project. This initiative is implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine until 2030 under the patronage of Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine.
