Odessa Team Prepares for International Children's Games

Today, July 31, the Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, met with participants and coaches from the team that will represent the city at the 57th International Children's Games.

The competition will take place from August 3 to 8, 2025, in Tallinn, Estonia.

During the meeting, the mayor presented the athletes with exclusive sports uniforms featuring the country's and city's symbols, wishing them success and bright results on the international stage.

"As someone who has been involved in sports all my life, I believe that children should grow up active, strong, and healthy. Sports are not just about physical education; they build character, discipline, and teamwork. We have always supported and will continue to support young athletes and the development of sports infrastructure in Odessa," said Gennady Trukhanov.

This year, the Odessa delegation consists of 16 athletes, 3 coaches, the head of the delegation, and a representative of the city authorities. The city will be represented by two basketball 3x3 teams (boys and girls) and a swimming team.

The organization of the participation is handled by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Odessa City Council.

The delegation is already registered on the official competition portal, and all necessary documents for departure have been prepared.

The International Children's Games are held annually under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, bringing together young athletes from around the world to promote peace and friendship through sports.

More than 900 young athletes from 70 cities worldwide are expected to participate. Odessa traditionally supports youth, sports, and international partnerships, and this year's participation in prestigious competitions is a testament to this commitment.
