Water Supply Alternatives in Odesa
Overview of the water supply situation in Odesa and alternative water sources during the power outage.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions participated in the Road Safety Week.
In these challenging times, when the enemy tries to plunge Ukraine into darkness, we must be a beacon of hope – in our Victory, in our defenders.
This year, the specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers from the southern regions joined the nationwide initiative to remind everyone – visibility on the road saves lives.
In the children's corners of our service centers, enlightening meetings were held for our youngest visitors and their parents. Children were taught about safe behavior on the road, and as a keepsake, they received reflective elements – reflectors, bracelets, and stickers which help drivers see pedestrians in the dark.
The safety of children is in our hands.
Remember a few simple rules:
Reflective elements are a simple yet extremely effective way to save lives.
Statistics show that most pedestrian accidents occur during the dark hours. If a pedestrian has reflective gear, the risk of an accident decreases by 6–8 times. We must be visible even in the darkest times.
Legally mandated - it's a requirement
Safety is the primary principle to follow in road traffic. This applies not only to drivers of motor vehicles but also to all participants in road traffic. According to official statistics, pedestrian accidents are the most common type of traffic incidents.
Most pedestrian accidents occur at night and in low visibility conditions. That is why regulations have been established at the legislative level regarding the wearing of reflective elements. According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine's resolution from November 11, 2020, No. 1105, during the dark hours and in low visibility conditions, pedestrians are required to use reflective elements or wear clothing that incorporates such inserts.
A person in dark clothing can only be seen from a distance of 25–30 meters, whereas reflective elements allow a person to be seen from 130–150 meters away. Furthermore, drivers and passengers are held accountable for violating the rules regarding the use of reflective vests.
Be visible – save lives
Reflective elements are your shield in the dark.
Remember: the shutdown of street lighting is a challenge not only for the energy system but also for road safety. Following simple recommendations can help protect your life and health.
Be visible, be cautious, and remember – to shine is to be safe!
