On February 1, Odessa hosted the Langeron CX cyclocross competition, marking the start of this year's cycling events.

Participants competed in two disciplines - mountain biking (MTB) and cyclocross (CX). The lap length was 2.7 km, with a total distance of 12 km.

In the mountain biking category, Pavel Tyaglo took first place, followed by Yuriy Khamatulyn in second, and Stas Chernomorets in third.

In the cyclocross events, experienced competitor Oleg Bimbash claimed victory, with Yuriy Pereverzev taking silver and Andriy Bendik earning bronze.

Among the women, the fastest was Svitlana Davidenko, with Kateryna Miller finishing second and Anna Shishkova taking third.

The event was organized by the youth public organization «Bicycle Club «Arcadia» with support from the Odessa City Council.

Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing held on varied terrain with numerous obstacles. Cyclists on modified bikes traverse short distances (from 2.5 to 3.5 km), with women racing for 35-40 minutes and men competing for around an hour. The average speed of cyclists is about 20 kilometers per hour. Cyclocross events mainly take place in the fall and winter when road cyclists rest or prepare for the new season.
