Oleksandr Usyk: Reaching New Heights in Boxing

Oleksandr Usyk has reclaimed the title of undisputed heavyweight champion at 38 years old, leaving behind all his professional defeats. Four years ago, this seemed unattainable, but now it's a reality.

Our fellow countryman has firmly established himself on the heavyweight throne. In 2021, Usyk was not a particularly appealing opponent for Joshua and Fury, but now he has become the desired adversary for everyone, the main star of any show. Usyk is now in a position to dictate his own terms moving forward.

A Smooth Path to New Victories

The rematch with Dubois turned out to be one of Usyk's easiest fights in his career. During the face-off before the fight, the Brit appeared tense and frightened, raising doubts about his mental readiness.

In contrast, Usyk looked in top form and dismissed all rumors about his aging.

Over the past two years, Dubois seemed poised to improve after defeating three strong opponents. However, his new team failed to come up with any new strategies against Usyk. He attempted to box dirty again, but by the fifth round, he took powerful blows and found himself on the canvas.

Dubois became the only boxer after Chazz Witherspoon to lose to Usyk by knockout rather than by decision. Thus, a trilogy with him no longer holds any significance for Usyk.

However, a trilogy could be possible with another Brit—Tyson Fury. Usyk mentioned him as a potential next opponent in a flash interview after the fight.

"Who’s next? Maybe it’s Tyson Fury. I don’t know yet, I want to go home," Usyk said.

Even though Fury recently appeared to retire again, this scenario is quite likely if the financial terms are right.
