A young athlete from Odessa's sports school has won a gold medal at the Summer European Youth Olympic Festival.

In the final, the student from Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 4 defeated a representative from Turkey, earning a prestigious award.

Ilaria Turkan competed in four matches at the European festival in Skopje, all of which she finished early. In the final bout, the athlete from Odessa triumphed over her Turkish opponent with an impressive arm lock.

In February, she astonished everyone with her performance at the Senior European Cup in Ljubljana, where she won a bronze medal, and also claimed victory in three consecutive cadet tournaments in Poreč, Teplice, and Lignano.

This year, Ilaria became the Ukrainian champion in judo among cadets, secured gold at the Junior European Cup in judo, and earned the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.

The athlete was trained by coach Oleg Spivak.
