Tennis for Veterans: New Opportunities in Odesa
An open tennis training session for war veterans took place in Odesa, aimed at promoting adaptive sports.
A large-scale gymnastics tournament called «Black Sea Cup» was held in Odesa, featuring numerous young athletes from across the country. Special attention was drawn to 9-year-old Oleksandra Pascal, whose story has become a symbol of resilience.
In May 2022, Sasha was injured during a Russian missile strike in Zatoka, finding herself trapped under the rubble of a destroyed building. As a result of her injuries, she had to undergo a leg amputation, but she did not give up. With the help of a modern bionic prosthesis, Oleksandra returned to training and her beloved sport.
At the tournament in Odesa, Oleksandra won a gold medal, and her performance became a symbol of strength and inspired everyone present. Spectators supported her with thunderous applause, and judges highly appreciated not only her technical skills but also the strength of character that Sasha displays on the mat.
The girl confidently stated, «My work is motivation, strength, and a path to my goals. If you think someone pities me – no. I just move forward and do what I love».
Previously, Sasha Pascal became the prototype for the main character in Ukraine's first inclusive children's comic.
