Recently, the Ukrainian Hockey Championship for the 2025/2026 season kicked off. This year, five teams are competing in the national tournament, with two hailing from Kyiv. The list of participating teams is as follows:

• HC «Kremenchuk» (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
• HC «Sokil» (Kyiv)
• HC «Kryzhynka-Capitals» (Kyiv)
• HC «Storm» (Odesa)
• HC «Odeshchyna» (Odesa)

This season brings certain changes compared to the previous one. Unfortunately, the Kherson team «Dnipro» is not participating this time, while a new team, HC «Odeshchyna», has emerged. Interestingly, the Kyiv vice-champion club «Kyiv Capitals» has announced its first team to compete in the Baltic Hockey League, while the «Kryzhynka-Capitals» remains in the Ukrainian Championship as their farm club, consisting of young players and those not making it to the main team.

The Kyiv team «Sokil» played its first match against the Odesa club «Storm» and achieved a comeback victory, having been down by two goals during the game.

The next match for «Kryzhynka-Capitals» will take place on Wednesday, October fifteenth, against «Storm», while «Sokil» will face off against «Odeshchyna» the following day.
