Ukrainian Universities Shine in Global Rankings

In the latest global university rankings by Times Higher Education for 2026, 22 Ukrainian higher education institutions have secured spots — five more than last year. This includes two universities from Odesa. This information was revealed in the data of the World University Rankings 2026.
This year, Ukraine has set a record for the number of universities in the Times Higher Education global ranking — 22 institutions made it to the list. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov is in the group 1501+, while Odesa Polytechnic University has achieved the status of a "ranking participant".
The best result among Ukrainian universities was shown by Sumy State University, which ranked in the group 801–1000. The remaining universities, including those from Odesa, are positioned in lower tiers of the ranking, yet their presence indicates a gradual development and improvement of the quality of higher education in Ukraine. Despite the challenging circumstances, universities continue to enhance their research activities, expand international collaboration, and attract students from various countries.
