Honoring a Hero: Eugene Kaus and His Achievements

The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, awarded Eugene Kaus the Honorary Sign «Gratitude» for his participation in the 2025 Invictus Games.
Eugene Kaus is a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war and a certified rowing coach, representing the Federation of Marine Multi-Sports of Ukraine.

He fought in the Kherson region, where he sustained injuries. After demobilization and rehabilitation, he engaged in powerlifting and archery, eventually becoming a rowing coach. In 2024, he and his team completed a 55 km rowing distance, earning the silver ring FORTIS as a reward. This led him to join the Ukrainian team for the Invictus Games.

Eugene represented Odessa at the inaugural winter Invictus Games in Canada across three sports: curling, biathlon, and skeleton.
This year, the Ukrainian team was the largest in history, comprising 35 servicemen and veterans.
