Demolition of Damaged Buildings in Odesa
Odesa begins the demolition of residential buildings affected by Russian strikes. Authorities offer compensation to homeowners.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to the report from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Russia violated the "Easter ceasefire" 2935 times. He emphasized that Ukraine's actions would be a "mirror" response to Russian aggression.
Zelensky's quote: "The total number of violations by the Russian army on this day is 2935."
The president noted that the most shelling and assaults occurred in the Pokrovsk direction.
Zelensky added that "in the Kursk direction, the promise of silence was also not upheld."
According to Zelensky, there were 96 assaults by Russia along the front lines, 1882 shellings of Ukrainian positions, including 812 from heavy weapons, and more than 950 uses of Russian FPV drones.
Zelensky's quote: "On this day, Moscow lacked the ability to respond to the proposal for a complete ceasefire for the next 30 days following Easter, as well as to the suggestion to at least maintain silence in the skies regarding civilian infrastructure and refrain from rocket and drone strikes.
The nature of Ukraine's actions will remain mirrored: we will respond to silence with silence; our strikes will defend against Russian attacks. Actions always speak louder than words."
What preceded: On the evening of April 19, Zelensky, after the report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Russian "Easter ceasefire" does not apply to the Kursk and Belgorod regions of Russia, and shelling did not cease in other parts of the front.
Zelensky proposes to Russia to extend the ban on long-range strikes for 30 days, as no air alerts were recorded during the so-called "Easter ceasefire" despite numerous violations by Russia at the front.
