Return of Injured Defenders: Updates on Prisoner Exchange

Today, a new stage of the prisoner exchange has occurred, with Ukraine bringing back injured defenders.

In line with the agreements reached in Istanbul, the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, has repatriated a group of soldiers from Russian captivity who have suffered severe injuries and health issues.

The returned individuals include soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specifically members of the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense, Airborne Forces, Special Operations Forces, Border Service, National Guard, and the State Special Transport Service.

Among those freed are defenders of Mariupol, who spent over three years in captivity. Several officers were also successfully released.

All those released today have serious injuries and illnesses, including amputated limbs, vision problems, abscesses, infections, shrapnel wounds, and chronic diseases. Some of the returnees have been diagnosed with hepatitis and tuberculosis.

The returned defenders will be transported to medical centers for necessary examinations and treatment. They will receive the required assistance, have their documents restored, and be compensated for their time in captivity.

The large-scale prisoner exchange continues. For security reasons, the exact number of released individuals will be announced after the exchange process is completed.

The Coordination Headquarters continues its work, and the next stage of releasing Ukrainian captives will take place soon.

We are working on bringing everyone back!

Glory to Ukraine!
