Ukraine has completed the repatriation process with the return of 1245 fallen soldiers' bodies, marking the final stage of the Istanbul agreements.
According to the Russian side, these bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. Thus, Ukraine has received a total of 6057 bodies as part of the agreements reached in Istanbul.
Law enforcement authorities, in collaboration with MIA experts, will conduct all necessary examinations and identify the repatriated bodies.
This operation was made possible by the coordinated efforts of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center of the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other security sector structures.
We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance.
A special thanks goes to the personnel of the Central Office of the Armed Forces General Staff for their role in transporting the repatriated individuals to designated medical institutions and handing over the bodies to law enforcement representatives.
