Collaboration Between Odesa and Venice on Cultural Heritage

During a visit to Venice, a constructive meeting took place between Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture, and Marketing of Odesa, and Luca Dzuin, the chief of staff to the mayor of Venice, along with Denis Wellington, the head of the department responsible for UNESCO relations and cultural heritage.

The meeting addressed:

  •  Venice’s experience in cultural heritage preservation and cooperation with UNESCO;
  •  tourism, cultural programs, and marketing strategies;
  •  analytics, statistics, and communication systems;
  •  approaches to solving historical issues and recommendations for preserving memory.

Participants also visited an innovative room that compiles data from surveillance cameras and other important information.

“Experience exchange between UNESCO World Heritage cities is extremely important for Odessa. We are grateful to our partners in Venice for their openness and willingness to share practices that help preserve and develop cities of global significance,” emphasized Ivan Liptuga.
