Preparing for the Heating Season: New Solutions for Odessa

The municipal enterprise «Odessa Heating Supply» is moving forward with preparations for the 2024/25 heating season.

In light of ongoing threats to the country’s energy infrastructure, one of the top priorities is to reduce energy consumption at the enterprise.

According to Anna Pozdnyakova, Deputy Mayor of Odessa, most of the pump units of the municipal enterprise «TMO» are significantly worn out and consume excessive amounts of electricity under current circumstances.

This is why, ahead of the new heating season, negotiations took place between the management of the municipal enterprise «TMO» and the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine regarding the supply of four pumps, each with a capacity of 200 kW. The expected outcome is a reduction in energy consumption amid shortages.

According to the signed memorandum, the Swiss Embassy financed the procurement of equipment valued at approximately 12 million UAH.

In early October, four expected pumps arrived in Odessa. Currently, the equipment is being installed at one of the facilities of the "Odessa Heating Supply" enterprise, which services over 100,000 consumers and more than 421 administrative buildings, including medical, educational, cultural, and religious institutions.

“This equipment is crucial for the heating of Odessa. With lower energy consumption, it will help supply thermal energy to consumers in the central part of Odessa. Reducing consumption is particularly important during power outages and when generators are in use,” said Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

Odessa expresses gratitude to international partners for their ongoing technical support of the city’s critical infrastructure.
