Current Health Situation in Odesa

According to the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, last week there were 2626 cases of ARVI and flu reported in Odesa, with 80.1% being children under the age of 17. The incidence rate for ARVI and flu is 50.3% lower than the epidemic threshold, indicating a low level of epidemic activity.

Regarding COVID-19, four children under the age of 17 were infected last week.
Additionally, the incidence of acute intestinal infections decreased by 16.6% to 80 cases, of which 63.7% were children.

Other infections such as viral hepatitis and airborne infections were noted as isolated cases. There were no reported cases of measles, diphtheria, or rubella.

Experts from the Disease Control and Prevention Center reported nine cases of whooping cough last week, with eight cases in children and one in an adult.

Doctors emphasize the importance of vaccinating children at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months of age for effective protection against whooping cough. The whooping cough component is usually included in combination vaccines that also protect against diphtheria and tetanus. Odesa's children's clinics have sufficient supplies of the DTP vaccine for whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus. Vaccination is free of charge, and parents should consult their pediatrician to schedule it.
