World Press Photo Exhibition 2024 Launches in Odesa

The World Press Photo 2024 exhibition opened today, December 6, at the Odesa National Art Museum.

This year, the «Open Format» category winner is the photo series «War is Personal» by Ukrainian photographer Yulia Kočetova.

Also reaching the European regional finals was Johanna Maria Fritz's project «Kakhovka Dam: Flood in a Combat Zone», created during the evacuation of civilians amidst flooding.

Odesa Photo Days Festival is the organizer of the exhibition tour in Ukraine. The exhibition features 129 photographs documenting war, protests, migration and climate crises, as well as other significant events of 2023. The exhibition's presence in Ukraine was made possible through the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine. Kyiv was the first city on the tour, where the exhibition at the Dovzhenko Center attracted 1,000 visitors from late October to mid-November.

The exhibition will showcase works from each of the 31 regional winners representing 24 countries: Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Myanmar, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States, and Venezuela.

The exhibition will run from December 6, 2024, to January 12, 2025.
