Illegal Shrimp Harvesting in Tiligul Estuary: Findings from the April 3, 2025 Raid

On April 3, 2025, a joint raid was conducted in the regional landscape park "Tiligul" near the village of Tanivka, Odesa region, involving environmental protection inspectors and representatives of the State Border Guard Service. This was reported by the Southern-Western District Environmental Inspection.

During the inspection, 13 abandoned shrimp traps with a total length of 11 meters were discovered. The illegal fishing gear was confiscated. Thanks to prompt actions, the lives of aquatic residents were preserved: 3 kg of shrimp, 2 kg of bullhead, and 2 kg of atherina were returned to the water.

Environmentalists urge the public not to remain indifferent and to report instances of poaching to help preserve the unique nature of Odesa.
