New Film on Odessa's Heritage

Last year marked the beginning of filming for the biographical drama titled «Odessa Life». This film is the first to chronicle the life of a Ukrainian director who lived and worked in Odessa from 1926 to 1929.

The next phase of filming is scheduled for April-May this year, as reported by the Odessa Film Studio.

Filming will take place on the streets of Odessa, at the Odessa Film Studio, and also in Kyiv.

«This film is a tribute to Odessa in 1926, when it was a hub of literature, cinema, and arts; a tribute to Odessa that was recovering from World War I and the Civil War; Odessa, thriving under the New Economic Policy, showcasing resilience and vitality. Odessa, captivated by cinema, poetry, jazz, and boxing…», – stated the Odessa Film Studio's official page.

Andriy Osipov, the director of the Odessa Film Studio, noted that the studio ended the previous year in profit and remains a stable enterprise. They are not only continuing to shoot a unique historical film about Dovzhenko but also working on new projects.
