Foreign Vessel Detained for Smuggling Grain

As a result of a joint operation by the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service, a foreign vessel was detained in the Black Sea for illegally transporting Ukrainian agricultural products stolen from temporarily occupied territories.

This information has been confirmed by the SBU.

According to sources, the name of the vessel is Anka.

The investigation revealed that the detained vessel is part of Russia's 'shadow' fleet, used to sell looted Ukrainian grain to third countries. At the end of 2024, the cargo ship exported 5,000 tons of wheat from the port of Sevastopol, which was stolen from the temporarily occupied southern regions of Ukraine.

The State Border Guard Service reported that in order to disguise the origin of the cargo, the vessel sailed under the flag of one of the Asian countries.

It is noted that during a search on board, navigation equipment, ship documentation, and other material evidence confirming the involvement of the vessel and its crew in the illegal transportation scheme were seized.

The vessel has been arrested, and the crew detained. Pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
