Accessibility for All: New Initiatives in Ukraine

On April 30, 2025, a significant meeting took place in Kyiv focused on the implementation of the project «Movement Towards Accessibility». This meeting was chaired by Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Among the attendees were representatives from the Presidential Office, including Deputy Head Viktor Mykyta, as well as advisor on accessibility issues Iryna Malyutina. Leaders from regional administrations, cities, and local government also participated.

Odessa was represented by the city mayor's advisor on accessibility, Oleksii Morozov, who, along with Oleksandr Zhyltsov, Secretary of the Accessibility Council, shared the achievements of the city's Accessibility Strategy.

Odessa has been selected as one of the pilot communities participating in the Ministry's project, which is part of the national initiative led by First Lady Olena Zelenska, «Without Barriers». The project aims to create barrier-free routes in key cities.

«We are already seeing practical outcomes from the implementation of the Accessibility Strategy in Odessa. At the direction of Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, we are working to ensure that the city's infrastructure is convenient and accessible for every resident», — emphasized Oleksii Morozov.
