Fire Breaks Out in Odessa High-Rise Due to Electrical Fault

A fire erupted in a high-rise apartment building in Odessa due to an electrical short circuit. The firefighting efforts were hampered by heavy smoke. 

According to the emergency services press office, today, May 10, a fire broke out in the Primorsky district. An apartment on the 7th floor of a 14-story residential building on Literary Street was affected.

"Fire units operated under an elevated alarm status. The firefighting was complicated by intense smoke. Firefighters were equipped with breathing apparatuses and eyewear for protection. It took half an hour for the firefighters to fully extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be a short circuit in the electrical distribution panel. A total of 10 units of equipment and 40 firefighters were deployed by the emergency services," the statement said.
