Consequences of the Attack on Odesa: Damaged Homes and Support for Victims

On June 17, Odesa experienced a massive assault, resulting in the damage of numerous residential buildings in the Primorsky district. 

The most significant damage occurred on the streets of Oleksii Markevych and Novoselskoho. 

As of 12:00 noon, specialists reported the following:

  •  damage in 51 residential buildings, with at least 6 experiencing substantial destruction;
  •  over 130 apartments were affected, many of which have shattered windows, damaged doors, and balcony units;
  •  
  •  more than 200 sq. m of roofing destroyed;
  • essential services such as water supply and electricity have been disconnected in some buildings.

Emergency response teams from municipal services were promptly engaged to address the aftermath of the attack. Initial work includes sealing windows, inspecting structures, and preparing for roof repairs.

All affected individuals who lost their homes have been provided with temporary accommodation. Two families are currently housed at the Social and Psychological Assistance Center of the Odesa City Council. 

All affected residents have been informed about the possibility of receiving financial compensation from the city for housing rent.

The city council is providing comprehensive support to those affected. Psychologists, social services, and volunteers are actively assisting. 

The mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, expressed gratitude to all services working in a coordinated and professional manner.

Efforts to mitigate the consequences of the hostile attack are ongoing.
