Traffic Restrictions in Odesa for Repairs
Current information regarding traffic restrictions in Odesa due to emergency works.
The National Bank of Ukraine is considering the gradual withdrawal of 10-kopeck coins from circulation starting October 1, 2025.
This was reported by the NBU press service.
The initiative aims to cut costs for the state and participants in cash circulation, as the 10-kopeck coins have ceased to play a significant role in cash transactions. Currently, there are approximately 4.1 billion 10-kopeck coins in circulation.
The NBU explained that the gradual withdrawal of these coins will reduce expenses related to their production, processing, transportation, storage, and circulation maintenance.
As a result, the regulator proposes to stop minting 10-kopeck coins and replenishing them in cash circulation from October 1, 2025, while banks will not reintroduce them after receiving them from citizens and businesses. However, 10-kopeck coins will remain a valid means of payment. Citizens will be able to continue using them for transactions, and banks will accept them for account credits and payment operations.
Additionally, the NBU suggests implementing rounding rules for total amounts on receipts during cash transactions starting October 1, 2025: amounts from 1 to 24 kopecks will be rounded down to 00 kopecks, from 25 to 49 kopecks to 50 kopecks, from 51 to 74 kopecks to 50 kopecks, and from 75 to 99 kopecks to the nearest sum to 00 kopecks.
The draft resolution regarding this has been put out for public discussion until August 7, 2025.
