The Mayor of Odesa, Gennady Trukhanov, has been awarded the prestigious «Person of the Year - 2024» title in the category of «Mayor» during a ceremony held in Kyiv.

In his speech, Trukhanov expressed gratitude to all Odesans and Ukrainians who work tirelessly for the benefit of their communities:

«This award symbolizes the unity and strength of our nation. Odesa is a city that cares deeply for its residents and for those who have found refuge here. We are actively supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and working to create a robust rehabilitation system for those in need. Together with veterans, we have also established the Accessibility Council».

Trukhanov also thanked the military, inviting them to visit Odesa for recovery. However, he did not shy away from discussing the most painful topics:

«It's hard to deal with losses. The hardest part is losing children whom we are trying to rescue from the rubble. I am confident that victory will be ours, and every criminal will face justice».

The «Person of the Year» award was established in 1996 and recognizes outstanding achievements by citizens in various fields, particularly in city development and improving the quality of life.
