Assault on Military Personnel in Odesa: Latest Updates
The incident occurred on February 22 on Italian Boulevard. Police have apprehended a suspect who inflicted bodily harm on a soldier.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 28-year-old resident of the Berezivskyi district initiated a conflict with military personnel during a document check.
The man sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots at him with a weapon, presumably of a traumatic type, before fleeing. The injured soldier was taken to a medical facility,

Additionally, territorial police operatives detained the offender, who has been handed over to SBU investigators.
Response from TCC
- The Odesa Regional TCC has responded to the assault on the soldier, providing details. They noted that the 28-year-old resident of the Berezivskyi district of Odesa region refused to comply with the lawful demands of the military to present military registration documents.
- "He sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers, fired several shots at him with a weapon (presumably traumatic), and attempted to escape," – stated the TCC.
- They added that the SBU has initiated criminal proceedings under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code "Obstruction of lawful activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under special conditions." The TCC emphasized that such actions are classified as particularly serious crimes that carry the harshest penalties. Currently, the materials have been referred to the court for preventive measures.
- The TCC also stressed that violence against military personnel is unacceptable, and mobilization is the duty of every citizen.
- "Citizens must understand that any manifestations of resistance against military administration directly affect the defense capability of the state," – highlighted the TCC.
