Completion of Archaeological Excavations in Odesa
Students and researchers have completed archaeological excavations on Primorsky Boulevard in Odesa, uncovering finds from the Genoese era.
On February 21, the Odesa police reported the arrest of an instructor from one of the territorial recruitment centers.
Authorities found that the serviceman demanded 50,000 hryvnias from a man he was assisting with military documentation.
"In exchange for this amount, the perpetrator promised to influence officials at the local recruitment center to issue delay documents, allowing the citizen to avoid issues with law enforcement agencies", the report stated.
It was later revealed that the demanded sum was reduced to 20,000 hryvnias, and the instructor was apprehended after receiving this amount. The money was seized as evidence.
In the Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, it was noted that the serviceman took the man's passport to secure payment:
"In January 2025, the suspect offered his 'assistance' again, lowering the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. The citizen, forced to agree, informed the authorities and continued to act under their guidance".
The arrest occurred on February 19. The man was charged under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being resolved.
