Arrest of Drug Dealer in Odesa Region

A 37-year-old man has been charged with two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and has been remanded in custody. He faces up to eight years of imprisonment for his offenses.

Officers from the Odesa District Police Department No. 2 discovered that a resident of the Vygodyanska community possessed weapons and drugs, seeking buyers.

During investigative operations, law enforcement documented the suspect selling two grenades and a package of plant-based drugs, receiving 5500 hryvnias in return.

Engaging bomb disposal experts, investigators seized grenade bodies with fuses, which, according to preliminary assessments, are functional military munitions. They also confiscated a substance confirmed as narcotic through an express test, along with cash.

Additionally, a sanctioned search at the suspect's residence uncovered several zip-lock bags containing similar plant material, packaging equipment, and over a hundred rounds of ammunition. Some of the seized items have been sent for expert examination.

Andriy Donets, head of the Odesa District Police Department No. 2, stated that the offender was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and is currently suspected of illegally acquiring, storing for sale, and selling narcotic substances (part 1 of Article 307 of the CC), as well as carrying, acquiring, and selling ammunition without the required legal permission (part 1 of Article 263 of the CC).

Based on the investigators' request, the court has imposed a preventive measure of detention on the suspect. For his offenses, he faces up to eight years of imprisonment.

Authorities will be determining all circumstances surrounding the crime, including the channel through which the “goods” reached the suspect during the investigation. The Bilayaivka District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the proceedings in this case.
