Illegal Manufacture of Firearms in Lyubashivka

In the Lyubashivka community, a 48-year-old man illegally manufactured a shortened hunting rifle using ammunition and gun parts found at a scrap metal collection point. A criminal investigation has been opened, and the offender faces a penalty of up to 7 years in prison, according to police reports.

Upon receiving operational information, police conducted a search of the man's residence under a court sanction. As a result of the investigative actions, a shortened hunting rifle and 93 rounds of various calibers were found in the garage, which were sent for expert examination.

The man explained that he found the ammunition and parts of a double-barrel shotgun at the scrap metal collection point and brought them home. Using the found barrel, stock, and trigger mechanism, he assembled the shotgun and shortened it, creating a non-standard smoothbore firearm - a sawed-off shotgun, which is capable of use. According to ballistic expertise, this device is indeed a firearm that can fire shots.

"The offender has been charged with illegal manufacture, acquisition, and possession of firearms and ammunition without the required legal permission. Under these articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces imprisonment for up to seven years. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been submitted to the court for consideration. The state prosecution will be supported in court by the Lyubashivka District Prosecutor's Office," the report states.
