Temporary Ban on Herring Fishing in Odessa Region

In the Odessa region, from April 20 to May 9, 2025, a temporary ban on herring fishing is established. The restrictions apply to certain stretches of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester Liman. This was reported by the «Odessa Fish Protection Patrol».

The restrictions will be in effect in the following areas:

  • from April 20 to April 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the branch of the Tulchin mouth;
  • from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream from the branch of the Tulchin mouth;
  • from April 20 to April 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubossary Hydroelectric Power Station dam;
  • from April 20 to April 24 — Dniester Liman, Turunchuk arm, and main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (mark 28 km).

The ban is implemented to preserve fish populations during the spawning season. The Odessa Fish Protection Patrol oversees compliance with these regulations.

Violations of the established rules may lead to administrative or criminal liability under current legislation.
