Tragic Death of Infant in Yas'kiv Community

An unfortunate event took place last night in a residential area.

This morning, a 43-year-old woman from one of the villages in the Yas'kiv community reported to the police about the sudden death of her nine-month-old daughter.

However, during the investigation, police found that the mother, in a state of emotional distress due to the baby's crying, inflicted bodily harm on her.

Preliminary information suggests that the child's death was caused by asphyxia (suffocation). The exact cause will be determined by forensic examination.

The woman has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of charging her with deliberate murder of a minor is being considered, which carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

Within the framework of the proceedings initiated under paragraph 2 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, several forensic examinations have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing, supervised by the Bilayaivka District Prosecutor's Office.
