Beware of Scammers on Telegram: Protect Your Account

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine warns users to be cautious.

During the ongoing war, Telegram has become not only a source of urgent news but also a hotbed of fraud. Over 70% of Ukrainians reach out to the digital security hotline Nadiyno.org with concerns about their Telegram accounts being compromised.

Scammers commonly employ phishing techniques after hacking accounts, sending messages asking for money or voting for a friend's daughter in contests.

Tips to protect your account from criminals:

- enable two-step verification;

- avoid clicking on suspicious links;

- check active sessions in Telegram settings and log out from unknown devices;

- restrict access to your personal information;

- use strong passwords and two-factor authentication instead of SMS for login.

Check and update your Telegram settings now. Also, take the test from the Nadiyno.org team to see if you can distinguish real messages from phishing traps: ne.nadiyno.org/telegram.
