Odessa's Triumph at the Ukrainian Rowing Cup
The Odessa team dazzles with their performance at the Ukrainian Rowing Cup.
“We walked for 10-11 hours every day” — the film about veterans conquering the Himalayas on prosthetics premiered in Kyiv.
On May 31, 2025, the pre-premiere screening of Roman Bebeha's documentary film “Everest. Beyond Limits” took place — a film that reshapes perceptions of the possible.
This is a story about willpower, dignity, brotherhood, and the will to live.
At the heart of the story are veterans from Ukraine’s GUR special forces, Ivan Tarn (“Artan”) and Oleksandr Dashko (“Kraken”), who conquered the Himalayas on prosthetics: they reached the base camp of Everest (5280 m) as part of the charitable project Limitless.
“Climbing Everest was symbolic for me. A great journey has already been taken, but ahead lies the summit of victory. This is a good opportunity to show society what our brothers are doing on the front lines. If we could do this, imagine what they do every day,” said Ivan Tarn.
Oleksandr Dashko reminded everyone that the climb in the Himalayas was a serious challenge.
“This climb should be seen by other guys with amputations. They need to know that life after amputation exists,” emphasized the veteran.
The film's author, journalist Roman Bebeha, documented the entire mountain journey undertaken by the military intelligence veterans.
“It was difficult for everyone. We all felt pressure — both atmospheric and physical. But we made it,” he said.
Professional climbers who accompanied Ivan and Oleksandr during the expedition also attended the pre-premiere screening. The group was in motion for 10-11 hours each day.
“I honestly didn’t believe that Sasha would make it. That we would succeed. I had no doubts about Ivan. I had always dreamed of someone like him. Thank you to the entire team! You are incredible!”, said climber Tetiana Yalovchak.
A representative from the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Yevheniy Yerin, thanked the organizers of the charitable project “Limitless” for their initiative and shared his impressions of the film.
“This is more than just climbing a mountain. This is a victory of spirit and willpower demonstrated by our brothers,” he said.
The goal of the Limitless project is to raise awareness of the challenges faced by veterans with amputations and to collect 3 million UAH to combat phantom pains.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with the UNBROKEN Ukraine rehabilitation center. The GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine supports this initiative.
