On November 14, 2025, Odesa hosted a special event in honor of World Diabetes Day, aimed at supporting children with diabetes and their families.
The initiative was organized with the assistance of the Odessa City Council's Department of Health, the Family Medicine Association, and various charitable organizations and medical facilities.
A city-wide project titled “Odesa Changes Its Attitude Towards Diabetes” has been active in our city, focusing on raising awareness about diabetes, its complications, and the significance of early diagnosis and prevention.
“This year, we are focusing on living in balance with diabetes. The symbol for World Diabetes Day is a blue circle, representing life, health, and unity in the fight against the disease. Children, their parents, and medical professionals participated in a flash mob, attempting to balance blue balloons, symbolizing the constant vigilance required to manage diabetes,” said the event organizer, Valentyna Velychko, director of the Reznik Center.
During the event, pediatric endocrinologists received thanks and appreciation from parents, while the young participants were presented with gifts. Engaging psychological activities and games were organized for the children by specialists from the “Psychological Space of CDC” organization.
In the hall, everyone was invited to undergo free cardiometabolic health screenings using modern medical equipment, including measuring glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin, cholesterol, uric acid, and anthropometric indicators.
