From May 31 to June 3, 2024, Bucharest (Romania) hosted the global final of the INFOMATRIX-2024 international computer projects contest.
This year, the competition brought together 280 students from 17 countries, showcasing 165 projects. Ukraine was represented by a team of 18 students from Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv with 12 projects. The Ukrainian participants competed in five categories: Programming, Computer Art, Hardware Control, Short Movie, and Hackathon.
The jury evaluated both the projects and the participants' presentations in English. As a result of the competition, the Ukrainian team secured 5 bronze, 6 silver, and 1 platinum medal.
Specifically, the bronze medals were awarded to young students from Odesa:
- Ruslan Masyko and Ivan Zmiyevskoy, 8th-grade students from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with their project "The Meaning of Life and My Place in It" (supervisor – computer science teacher Alla Omelchenko);
- Yegor Bovkun, a 10th-grade student from Odesa Lyceum No. 65 with his project "Model of the World's First Helicopter" (supervisor - computer science teacher Oleg Pustovoyt).
This recognition on an international level highlights the immense potential of our students in the field of information technology.
Since 2009, Ukraine has been a full participant in the global final of INFOMATRIX. The multi-stage selection of finalists and the organization of the team's participation in the world final has traditionally been carried out by the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center for Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
