Chelsea Claims Victory in 2025 Club World Cup Final

On Sunday, July 13, the final match of the 2025 Club World Cup took place at the "MetLife Stadium" in East Rutherford, USA, featuring Chelsea against PSG.

Many did not expect to see Chelsea at this stage, while PSG's presence was hardly surprising. However, the outcome of the match was unexpected – the first half proved decisive in determining the champion.

The French side started the game sluggishly, which Chelsea, under Enzo Maresca, capitalized on. In the 22nd minute, PSG's defense failed to deal with Malo Gusto's shot, allowing Cole Palmer to score with a precise strike into the far corner.

Just 8 minutes later, the English midfielder replicated his earlier goal, doubling Chelsea's lead. PSG, even after conceding two goals, could not regain their composure and went into halftime trailing 0-3.

Cole Palmer added an assist to his tally, setting up Joao Pedro, who finished confidently against Gianluigi Donnarumma, extending the lead to three goals.

Only Luis Enrique's likely shouts during the break seemed to wake the French team, which returned for the second half as a different squad. They aimed for an early goal, but Robert Sanchez made several fantastic saves to keep Chelsea ahead.

As time passed, PSG's chances of recovery dwindled, and the score could have been even wider if not for Donnarumma's saves against two shots from Liam Delap, keeping his team in the game.

Ultimately, PSG's hopes were dashed when Joao Neves lost his cool, yanking Marc Cucurella's hair, which provoked a reaction. After review, referee Alireza Faghani issued a straight red card to the Portuguese.

In the end, the referee's final whistle confirmed a resounding 3-0 victory for Chelsea, making them the inaugural champions of the revamped Club World Cup format.
