Enhanced Learning Tools Approved for 'Defense of Ukraine' Curriculum

Ukraine has approved a revised list of essential teaching tools and equipment for the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject aimed at high school students.

The relevant order was adopted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In addition to standard boards, markers, chairs, and tables, the list now includes:

  • FPV drone control simulators equipped with computers;
  • interactive laser shooting trainers;
  • radio stations for learning communication basics;
  • elements of training tracks;
  • mannequins for practicing CPR and first aid;
  • tourniquets and bandages;
  • tactical medicine kits;
  • helmets and bulletproof vests.

The updated equipment will enable students to learn life-saving first aid skills, prepare them for the use of modern safety technologies, develop critical thinking, and build resilience against misinformation, as well as practical skills for action in emergencies.

It is worth noting that in 2024, the Ministry of Education and Science approved a new curriculum for the 'Defense of Ukraine' subject, which will now be taught in specialized training centers serving multiple schools.

According to Oksen Lisovyi, the educational program has removed 'everything that was included due to Soviet approaches,' and now girls and boys are taught together instead of separately as before.

The ministry states that this new teaching approach takes into account current challenges and needs in the field of national security and aims to foster patriotic consciousness and practical skills development.
