Moment of Silence in Odesa
Every day at 9:00 AM, a moment of silence takes place at 8 intersections in Odesa.
On July 13, the Black Sea coast of Odessa hosted the Ukrainian aquathlon championship for sports veterans.
The event gathered 283 athletes from different cities including Odessa, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Bila Tserkva, Lviv, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, and others.
The swimming segment (1 km, 2 km, 4 km) took place in the coastal waters from the ‘Chayka’ beach to the yacht club and back. The running segment (5 km, 10 km, 20 km) was along the Health Trail, from ‘Chayka’ beach to ‘Zolotyi Bereh’ beach and back.
In the overall standings, Andrii Kushnerov from Kyiv won with a time of 46:13, followed by Serhii Zviahin from Kyiv at 53:18, and local athlete Petro Vasyliev came in third at 58:09.
In the ‘long’ aquathlon (2+10 km), Odessa's Vadym Maslennikov took first place with a time of 1:13:01, while Kyiv's Serhii Chernyshov claimed silver at 1:14:53, and another Kyivite, Serhii Yanhicher, secured bronze at 1:16:35.
In the ‘Standard’ aquathlon (1+5 km), Andrii Pechenyi from Kyiv triumphed with a time of 33:28, followed by his fellow Kyivite Semen Tereshchenko at 34:07, and Odessa's Denys Polyakov took third place at 35:08.
Among the women, all podium spots in this distance were taken by athletes from Kyiv. The champion was Anastasiia Ihnatiuk, second place went to Nadiia Somina, and third to Iryna Krotova.
The event was organized by the Odessa Regional Triathlon Federation with support from the Odessa City Council.
