Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted new legislative proposals to the Verkhovna Rada for extending martial law and mobilization for an additional 90 days. If approved by Parliament, these measures will remain in effect until August 6, 2025.

The relevant bills, numbered 13172 and 13173, have been registered on the Verkhovna Rada's website.

Extension of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine announced

As of Tuesday morning, April 15, both documents have been sent for processing to the relevant Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence. The texts of the bills propose to ratify presidential decrees extending martial law and mobilization for a period of 90 days.

According to the draft law on the extension of mobilization (presumably No. 13173), this law is set to come into effect on May 9, 2025, following its announcement through the media.

The draft law on the extension of martial law (presumably No. 13172) is expected to take effect from the day of its publication after being adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and signed by the President.

Latest updates on mobilization and martial law in Ukraine

On February 5, the President signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until May 9, 2025.

On November 6, Zelensky signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until February 7, 2025.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law confirming the President's decree regarding the extension of martial law in Ukraine for 90 days starting from November 10.
