Moment of Silence in Odesa
Every day at 9:00 AM, a moment of silence takes place at 8 intersections in Odesa.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, 1,330 individuals have suffered due to mines and explosive remnants, including 135 children. This information comes from the Main Department of Mine Action and Civil Protection.
As of October 1, 2025, a total of 1,330 people have been affected by hostile mines and remnants of war, with 135 being children and 1,195 adults.
The highest number of casualties is among the following professions: farmers - 243, critical infrastructure workers - 137, and drivers - 88.
Additionally, the affected include students - 121, unemployed individuals - 148, and pensioners - 116.
The department noted that data is collected systematically in accordance with Protocol II and Protocol V of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, which may cause excessive injury or have indiscriminate effects.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are opening criminal proceedings regarding violations of the rules and customs of war by the Russian Federation for every incident of detonation among the Ukrainian civilian population caused by Russian mines.
A dedicated database and interactive map assist government and humanitarian organizations in informing the population about the risks associated with explosive items and providing support to those injured by mine-related trauma.
