Justice for Odesa Railway: Investigation of Sabotage Acts

The Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent an indictment to court against three individuals involved in organizing sabotage acts, which included arson at various railway facilities during martial law (Part 3 Article 28 Part 2 Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

During the investigation, it was established that the accused received an order from a Russian special services agent via messenger, offering them payment for carrying out arson at Odesa Railway facilities.

Throughout August 2024, using a pre-prepared incendiary mixture, they set fire to eight relay cabinets at railway stations and sections of Odesa.

The arsonists operated using the typical scheme of Russian special services: first, they reconnoitered potential targets, then obtained approval, and finally executed the arson while documenting it on video. For each completed task, they received money, which was then divided among the group members.

All accused individuals are currently in custody.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the SBU in the Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
