The Dangers of Train Surfing: Keeping Kids Safe

Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has reported 8 cases of train surfing, resulting in injuries to 9 children. In pursuit of a few seconds of fame on video, teens put their lives at risk.

Remember:

Electric shocks, falls, or collisions with obstacles rarely give a second chance.

Why is train surfing dangerous?

With voltages up to 27,000 volts, a shock can occur even without touching the wires.

A fall from a height – one wrong move can change your life forever.

Collisions with obstacles like bridges or tunnels at speeds of 60-100 km/h can be fatal.

What to do if you see someone in danger?

  • Notify the station security or railway staff.
  • Call the Ukrainian Railways hotline: 0 800 503 111 (free).
  • Contact the National Police (102) or Emergency Services (101).
  • Remember the location of the incident for accurate reporting.

Parents, your attention is key to your children's safety!

Discuss the risks of train surfing with teenagers.

Monitor their social media – extreme videos can encourage dangerous behavior.

Pay attention to new interests – an obsession with transport or extreme videos can be a warning sign.

TEENS, THINK ABOUT IT!

Likes on social media are not worth risking your life.

If friends suggest train surfing, say "no!"

If you see someone planning a dangerous stunt, inform an adult or call 102. Your vigilance could save a life!
