Investigators have completed their inquiry and submitted the case to court. The driver faces possible imprisonment and loss of driving privileges.
The incident occurred in one of the villages of the Liman community.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was determined that a 47-year-old local woman, driving a 'Chery' vehicle, was inattentive and failed to choose a safe speed, hitting a 15-year-old girl who was crossing the road, despite having the opportunity to avoid the accident.
As a result of the collision, the child sustained injuries including pelvic fractures, classified as medium severity according to the forensic expert.
The driver was unharmed and tested for intoxication – she was sober.
The vehicle was impounded, and several expert examinations were conducted.
Police station head Eduard Kolomiyets stated that sufficient evidence was gathered, including expert opinions, leading to charges against the driver for violating traffic safety rules that resulted in medium severity injuries to the victim. The case has been forwarded to court.
The driver faces up to three years of imprisonment and a ban from driving for up to three years.
We urge drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules:
- in populated areas, speed must not exceed 50 km/h;
- actions of road participants should not create dangers for others;
